Pune Court Summons Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Director Over ‘Jolly LLB 3’

Pune: A civil court in Pune has issued summons to actors Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and director Subhash Kapoor in connection with their upcoming film Jolly LLB 3, following a petition filed by lawyer Wajed Rahim Khan.

The court has directed the trio to appear in person on October 28 at 11 am.

According to advocate Wajed Rahim Khan, the petition alleges that the film mocks the legal system and disrespects court proceedings. He objected to the portrayal of the legal profession in a negative light, particularly a scene in which judges are referred to as “mama,” a slang term.

Speaking to the media, Khan said, “There should be respect for lawyers. That is why I filed a petition, as the depiction of advocates and judges in the film is wrong. The Pune court has now asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and the director to appear.”

The complaint was initially filed in 2024, following the release of the film’s first teaser.

Jolly LLB 3 is the latest installment in the popular franchise. The first film, starring Arshad Warsi, was a sleeper hit, while the sequel in 2017, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, was declared a ‘superhit’.

After a gap of nearly eight years, the franchise returns with the third installment, starring both Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi. Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, the film is produced by Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare under the banner of Star Studio 18. It is scheduled to release in theatres on September 19, 2025.

The teaser for the film, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, was released on August 12.

For context, the 2017 Jolly LLB 2 starred Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi as a spiritual sequel to the 2013 original, which featured Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in lead roles. Amrita Rao also appeared in the first film.
