New Delhi: Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra on Thursday stated that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta sustained serious injuries and was in a state of “shock” following an attack, but has continued to work from her residence.
Mishra described the incident as part of a “well-planned conspiracy,” noting that the accused is a “professional criminal” with a history of serious offences.
Visiting Gupta at her residence on Thursday morning, Mishra said the chief minister’s injuries were severe and she needs rest. However, he added that she has been reviewing official files since Wednesday.
“She has been actively working, but she requires rest. Her physical injuries are serious, and she is in a state of shock,” Mishra told reporters.
The minister also said the accused has nine criminal cases registered against him, including charges of attempted murder and smuggling. “The attack was premeditated. The accused had conducted a recce of her residence, and two videos recovered from his phone confirm this,” he said.
The attack occurred on Wednesday during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ programme at Gupta’s residence in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area.
