Principal Secretary of R&B Reviews Ongoing Rescue and Relief Efforts in Chashoti

KISHTWAR: Following the roster directives and under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary of Roads & Buildings (R&B) and Mining Department, Anil Kumar Singh, conducted an on-site review of rescue and relief operations in Chashoti village, recently affected by a severe cloudburst.

He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police Traffic, J&K, M. Suleman Choudhary; Deputy Inspector General, DKR Range, Shridhar Patil; Chief Engineer PMGSY Rajesh Gupta; and other senior officials from various departments.

During the visit, Singh assessed the ground situation, interacted with affected residents, and reviewed the response measures being carried out by rescue teams and the district administration. He also inspected the PMGSY roads from Atholi to Pallali and from Pallali to Machail, issuing necessary directives to the authorities.

The Principal Secretary reviewed the status of the Chashoti Bridge, which was nearing completion before being washed away in the cloudburst, and discussed the provision of a Bailey bridge as a temporary solution. He also evaluated proposals for the Jasnie Nallah and Hako Nallah bridges, to be taken up after ongoing relief operations.

Singh further assessed the immediate needs of displaced families to ensure timely relief distribution and smooth coordination of rehabilitation efforts. Stressing the importance of prompt action, he called for an integrated and proactive approach by all agencies to facilitate effective rescue operations and expedited relief delivery.
