Uttarakhand: Heavy Flooding Hits Tharali, Chamoli; Two People Reported Missing

GOPESHWAR (U’KHAND): Heavy rains triggered flooding in Tharali town of Chamoli district, leaving two people missing.

Debris from a collapsed rain drain piled up at the Tharali tehsil office and nearby homes. A 20-year-old woman was reported buried under the debris in Sagwara village on Friday night, officials said. The second person went missing in the Chepdon market area.

Flood-like conditions continue in Tunri Gadhera, with debris reaching structures along the Pindar River. The Karnaprayag-Gwaldam National Highway, which connects Tharali, has been closed due to debris near Ming Gadhera. The Tharali-Sagwara and Dungri roads are also shut to traffic.

Following the situation, schools in three development blocks have been closed on government orders.
