JAMMU: Unidentified burglars looted eight shops, two residential houses, and a temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, officials said on Saturday.
The incident took place at Maitra Chowk during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, triggering protests by locals who demanded swift action to nab the culprits and stronger security measures in the area.
According to officials, the burgled shops included two general stores, a shoe shop, a hardware outlet, a workshop, and a garment shop. They added that the two houses were unoccupied for the past few days when the thefts occurred.
