SDRF launches disaster management operations in Jammu following heavy rains

JAMMU: In the wake of heavy rains that caused waterlogging and disrupted normal life, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have launched extensive disaster management operations across Jammu.

Equipped with specialized gear and trained personnel, the teams have been engaged in round-the-clock rescue efforts to evacuate stranded residents.

Rescue Operations:
SDRF personnel, led by DSP SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu, Dinesh Gupta, rescued around 45 students trapped in the IIM hostel using inflatable boats and life jackets. Teams have also assisted residents stuck in inundated homes, roads, and residential facilities in and around Jammu city.

Areas Covered:
Rescue teams have been deployed at multiple sites along the Tawi River, including Talab Tillo and Lower Bakshi Nagar, while working in close coordination with the district administration, police, and other agencies.

Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu (SSP) Zahid Naseem Manhas said, “Our teams are fully committed to supporting people affected by the heavy rains. We are working tirelessly to ensure their safety.”
