GANGTOK: The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra via Nathu La Pass in Sikkim concluded with the return of the 10th batch of 48 pilgrims, officials said on Monday.
The group returned on Sunday and was welcomed by officials of the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) at a valedictory function marking the successful completion of the 2025 pilgrimage.
STDC chairman Lukendra Rasaily credited the smooth conduct of the yatra—undertaken by nearly 500 pilgrims this year—to the dedicated efforts of officials, paramilitary forces, and other supporting agencies. He said their coordinated work ensured the pilgrimage concluded without any disruptions.
The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (KMY), revered for its deep religious and cultural significance, draws hundreds of devotees every year. Regarded by Hindus as the sacred abode of Lord Shiva, the pilgrimage involves a demanding trek through high-altitude terrain reaching up to 19,500 feet, often under extreme weather conditions. The journey can be hazardous for those not physically or medically prepared.
