NEW DELHI: The Indian women’s cricket team will begin the final phase of preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup with a week-long conditioning camp in Visakhapatnam starting Monday.
The camp will serve as a precursor to India’s three-match ODI series against Australia, which acts as a dress rehearsal ahead of the World Cup, set to begin on September 30. The series against Australia will start at Mullanpur on September 14.
The Visakhapatnam camp will help the team acclimatize to the ACA-VDCA Stadium pitch, where they are scheduled to face South Africa on October 9 and Australia on October 12.
According to Cricbuzz, alongside the 15-member World Cup squad, the camp will include six additional players, including Sayali Satghare, who is part of the team selected for the Australia ODI series. In the World Cup squad, all-rounder Amanjot Kaur will replace Satghare.
The camp is also expected to involve members of the India A squad, which recently concluded its tour of Australia. India A will play New Zealand at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in New Zealand’s first official World Cup warm-up match.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa will be based in Colombo for their warm-up games ahead of the tournament.
