Jammu: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday said it has seized incriminating documents and digital devices during raids at multiple locations in Jammu, as part of its money laundering probe into alleged illegal grabbing of custodian land.

According to the agency, searches were conducted on Friday at nine locations in Jammu and one in Udhampur under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

“The ED carried out search operations in connection with the illegal occupation of 502.5 kanals (62.8 acres) of custodian land involving patwaris, tehsildars, middlemen, and land grabbers. During the searches, incriminating documents related to assets, revenue records, and digital evidence were recovered,” the agency said in a post on X.

The raids covered premises linked to patwari-rank officials Pranav Dev Singh and Rahul Kai, naib tehsildar Akeel Ahmed, and several others allegedly involved in the case. The land in question belongs to evacuees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and has been under probe for suspected grabbing and corruption since 2022, sources said.

The ED’s investigation is based on an FIR filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
