CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police on Monday busted a terror module in Batala with the arrest of one person and the seizure of four hand grenades, an RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED), and communication equipment.

According to the initial probe, the consignment was arranged on the directions of UK-based Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Nishan Singh alias Nishan Jodia, who was acting under the command of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, backed by Pakistan’s ISI.

“In a major breakthrough, @BatalaPolice foiled a terror module with the recovery of four hand grenades (SPL HGR-84), one RDX-based IED (2kg), and communication equipment from village Balpura, Batala,” Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav posted on X.

“One accused has been arrested, while another is on the run. Efforts are on to nab him,” he added.

Further investigation is in progress to uncover the entire cross-border conspiracy, Yadav said.
