New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev have sent a strong message to terror masterminds about the consequences of threatening Indian citizens’ lives.

Shah added that while Operation Sindoor instilled satisfaction among the people, Operation Mahadev further strengthened that feeling into confidence.

He made these remarks while honoring the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF personnel for their successful execution of Operation Mahadev, which neutralized the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack.

Operation Sindoor, carried out in May, targeted terror hideouts and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. Operation Mahadev, conducted in July, eliminated the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.

“Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev have sent a clear message to terror masterminds that harming Indian citizens will not go unpunished,” Shah said.

The home minister emphasized that the security forces have demonstrated globally that no matter the tactics or strategies adopted by terrorists, they can no longer strike India with impunity.

Referring to the timing of the attack, Shah noted that the Pahalgam incident was a failed attempt to derail Kashmir’s flourishing tourism during its peak season.

He also highlighted the crucial role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in combating terrorism, alongside the Army and paramilitary forces.

“Whether from the ruling party or the opposition, everyone has expressed joy and gratitude towards the security forces for Operations Sindoor and Mahadev,” Shah said. He added that this trust in national security forms the foundation of India’s aspiration to excel globally in every field.

Shah also noted that the forensic lab of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) confirmed that the terrorists killed during Operation Mahadev were the same individuals responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.

“On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the entire nation, I congratulate the security forces for reinforcing the sense of safety and security among Indian citizens,” he concluded.
