Srinagar: Police on Wednesday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in the Bhuvan forest area of Rajwar in North Kashmir’s Handwara.
Officials said the team unearthed several items buried underground, including 22 UBGL grenades, one UBGL, 15 AK-47 rounds, approximately ½ kg of a black powdered substance suspected to be explosive, pencil cells, a gas cylinder, gas stove, tawa, three tarpaulins, groceries such as sugar, oil, salt, dry milk, and turmeric, a pair of shoes, utensils, and around ½ litre of weapon cleaning oil.
The recovery of these arms, ammunition, and other logistical materials is considered a major setback to terrorist activities and their support networks. Authorities said the timely operation has helped prevent potential attacks in the area.
Handwara Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region and stated that efforts to track down individuals attempting to disturb public harmony will continue.
