Srinagar: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the devastating floods in parts of Jammu that have claimed several lives.

He noted with grief that 30 pilgrims lost their lives in a landslide while on their way to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Extending condolences to the bereaved families, Abdullah prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

He praised the administration’s timely rescue efforts, saying they helped save many lives and provided relief to those stranded.

Urging the Centre to immediately release financial and logistical support for relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction, Abdullah stressed the need for unity in this crisis.

“The people of Jammu require full support from both the local administration and the central government,” he said, while also appealing to NGOs, civil society groups, and the public to join the relief efforts.
