Xiaomi is preparing to roll out the Android 16 update for its premium devices in the coming weeks, and fresh details about its next HyperOS version have now been revealed.
The company has officially teased the launch of HyperOS 3, putting an end to rumours around “HyperOS 26.” A promotional banner featuring the number 3 above HyperOS confirms the branding. Early reports last month suggested Xiaomi could begin the Android 16-based beta program in August, and it now appears the rollout is finally on track.
Historically, Xiaomi’s OS updates have been relatively slow, and this year is no exception. The brand is expected to start with the Android 16 beta program first, with the stable version likely to arrive later. Meanwhile, Google has already released the stable Android 16 update for Pixel devices, though without significant UI upgrades.
HyperOS 3 Launch – What to Expect
Xiaomi has confirmed that HyperOS 3 will be officially unveiled on August 28 in China. The update is expected to bring notable design and interface improvements, with reports suggesting it will be available on both Android 15 and 16 builds.
The company has promised smoother and more responsive performance, likely achieved by optimizing the platform and reducing the burden of heavy animations—a long-standing criticism of Xiaomi’s UI.
To strengthen its software reputation, Xiaomi plans to prioritize its flagship devices for the rollout. The HyperOS 3 beta version is expected to reach the following models first:
- Xiaomi 15 series
- Redmi K80 Pro / Ultimate Edition
- Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5
- Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
