Indian Govt Issues High-Security Alert For Microsoft Edge And Other Business Tools

The Indian government has issued a high-security alert warning businesses about serious vulnerabilities in Microsoft products, including the Edge browser, Windows Server, and Azure services.

The alert, released by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), highlights that these flaws could allow attackers to bypass system protections and gain access to sensitive business data.

According to CERT-In, the affected Microsoft products include:

Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based)

Windows Server (Storage component)

Windows Certificates component

Windows MBT Transport driver

Microsoft PC Manager

Azure Databricks

While many businesses may be most familiar with Microsoft Edge—pre-installed on all Windows 11 PCs—the vulnerabilities across these platforms could expose organizations to ransomware, remote system hijacking, and large-scale data theft.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issues and released fixes for all affected products. Businesses are strongly advised to update immediately. For Edge, users can check for updates by:

  1. Clicking the three-dot menu in the top-right corner
  2. Selecting Help and Feedback
  3. Clicking About Microsoft Edge

With Windows 10 support nearing its end, organizations are also being urged to either upgrade to newer systems or invest in Microsoft’s extended security plans to reduce risks.
