SRINAGAR: On Thursday, the Army hoisted a 72-foot-high national flag in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, to mark the historic capture of Haji Pir Pass during the 1965 war.
The Tricolour was raised at the Army’s Cheetah Post in the district, an official said.
The flag-hoisting ceremony, held on Haji Pir Day, paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Army. The capture of Haji Pir Pass in 1965 is remembered as a symbol of bravery, patriotism, and national pride, the official added.
Organised by the Dagger Division with support from the Flag Foundation of India, the event saw the Chinar Corps Commander hoist the flag at Cheetah Post, overlooking Baramulla town and the Jhelum River.
The ceremony featured performances by the military band and local schoolchildren, reflecting the strong bond between the armed forces and the community.
Civil dignitaries from Baramulla, officials from the civil administration, and representatives of the security forces also attended the event, the official said.
