Google Vids AI Video Editor Now Free for All Users

Google is making its AI video editor, Google Vids, free for everyone. The tool, which was previously available only with a Google AI Pro or paid Workspace subscription, is now open to all users without requiring a premium plan.

Unveiled at Google I/O 2025, Google Vids is part of the Workspace suite and allows users to create videos by simply providing a text script. The AI then generates a video, letting users choose from different voices, tones, templates, fonts, and even stock media. While the free version doesn’t include every premium feature, it still provides enough tools for beginners to experiment with video editing and sharpen their skills before moving on to advanced software.

Google’s move reflects its strategy of expanding AI access. By offering these tools free of charge, the company not only attracts more users but also gathers valuable feedback to improve and train its AI models.

Alongside video tools, Google is also enhancing Google Photos with new AI-powered editing features. Using Gemini, users can now edit photos with simple prompts. The feature—launching first with the Pixel 10 series in the US—lets users open the Photos app, select a picture, and tap the “Help me edit” option to ask Gemini to modify the image automatically.

These updates underline Google’s push to simplify creative tasks, whether in video or photo editing, by letting AI handle the heavy lifting.
