Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday raided six locations in connection with an FIR against four individuals accused of duping students with false promises of MBBS admissions in Bangladesh.

Officials said the action was based on a complaint that a large sum of money had been collected from aspirants and their families under the pretext of securing medical seats abroad. Investigations, however, revealed that no payments were ever made to any medical institution.

“Preliminary investigation has confirmed the allegations of cheating. A case has been registered under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC for fraud and criminal conspiracy,” an official spokesperson said.

The accused have been identified as Peerzada Aabid of Bijbehara (currently residing at Natipora, Srinagar), Syed Wasim of Pulwama (also at Natipora), Syed Suhail Aijaz of Kokernag (currently at Bemina), and Zaigam Khan of Bemina.

Police said Aabid runs the Europe Consultancy Centre, while Wasim, Suhail, and Zaigam operate Overseas Consultancy. Further investigation is in progress.
