Omar Abdullah Lauds HDFC Bank’s Role in J&K’s Growth, Invites Delegates to Explore Kashmir

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Friday evening, addressed HDFC Bank’s annual function at the SKICC, praising the institution for its growth, resilience, and long-term commitment to Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the Valley’s rich tourism heritage, Abdullah recalled how Kashmir was described centuries ago as “heaven on earth”—a phrase still inscribed on the walls of the Red Fort. He observed that while many destinations today rely on promotional slogans, Jammu and Kashmir has always stood as the original symbol of natural beauty and hospitality.

Urging delegates to look beyond Srinagar and explore the wider region, the Chief Minister said their experiences would inspire them to return with family and friends. He stressed that sustainable tourism must be the guiding principle for J&K. “Our success will not be measured by bringing you here once, but by ensuring you return. Repeat visits are the true measure of our tourism efforts,” he said.

Abdullah also underlined HDFC Bank’s contribution to J&K’s economic progress. With 124 branches and an extensive network of ATMs across both urban centres and remote areas, the bank has provided services ranging from deposits and lending to priority sector financing and customer-focused initiatives, reflecting its strong commitment to the people of the Union Territory.

Expressing gratitude for the bank’s decision to hold its prestigious annual function in Kashmir, Abdullah remarked that such events reinforce the growing partnership between the state and India’s banking sector. “HDFC Bank’s presence here today is not just a celebration of financial success, but also a reaffirmation of faith in Jammu and Kashmir’s potential and its future,” he noted.

The event was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, legislators Farooq Ahmad Shah and Tanvir Sadiq, senior managers, representatives of HDFC Bank, and delegates from across the country.
