Calgary: Leaders and supporters of the United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) held a protest in Calgary, Canada, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all detained students.

The party accused Pakistan and the PoJK administration of orchestrating unlawful arrests and using brutal force against innocent youth.

A video of the demonstration, shared by The Mirror Jammu and Kashmir, showed protesters chanting slogans for freedom, condemning the puppet administration, and calling for the release of students detained in Rawalakot. Participants also expressed solidarity with UKPNP leader Shaukat Kashmiri and pledged continued support for his movement.

According to The Mirror Jammu & Kashmir, the UKPNP reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the detainees, the Joint Awami Action Committee, and the people of PoJK in their pursuit of freedom, dignity, and human rights. The protest served as a reminder to Pakistan to respect fundamental rights and end its illegal occupation.

Several UKPNP leaders, including Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan, strongly condemned the arrests and torture of protesters in Rawalakot. In a previous Facebook post, the party demanded the immediate release of all detained students and called for accountability for those responsible for the brutality, emphasizing that freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association are fundamental rights.

Earlier, on August 23, the UKPNP London Unit held a major protest outside the Pakistan High Commission in London against extrajudicial killings and human rights violations in PoJK and Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan (PoGB). The demonstration drew hundreds of members, office bearers, and rights activists from across the UK, with slogans such as “We want freedom,” “Justice for Zarnosh, Jibran, Javed Naji, and Tasmia,” “Stop plundering our natural resources,” and “No to occupation.”
