PESHAWAR: A police officer was killed and two others injured when militants ambushed a police van in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district on Saturday, officials said.
The attack occurred near the Darmalak police checkpost in Lachi tehsil, where unidentified assailants opened fire on the vehicle. A sub-inspector was killed on the spot, while two constables sustained injuries.
Rescue 1122 teams in Kohat quickly provided first aid and transported the injured to a hospital. The two constables were later referred to the District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
