JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat and BSF ADG of the Western Command, S.S. Khandare, conducted separate reviews of security along the India-Pakistan border following the recent flash floods in the Jammu region, officials said.

Their visits to the International Border (IB) in Kathua and Jammu districts come ahead of a likely visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is expected to assess the situation after record rainfall earlier this week triggered floods in low-lying areas, causing widespread damage and loss of life.

Officials noted that the floods have severely impacted the border infrastructure, including fencing and outposts along the IB and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts. Security forces are maintaining heightened vigilance to prevent any attempts by terrorists to exploit the situation.

DGP Prabhat, accompanied by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shiv Kumar Sharma and SSP Shobhit Saxena, visited forward areas in Kathua, where BSF officers briefed them on flood-related infrastructure damage. The DGP commended the BSF for its relief efforts in the affected border villages.

Meanwhile, ADG Khandare inspected forward posts in the R.S. Pura sector to review flood damage. He was accompanied by BSF Inspector General Jammu Frontier Shashank Anand and DIG Chitar Pal, who updated him on ground conditions and ongoing BSF rescue operations in the border areas.
