SRINAGAR: Eighteen-year-old Mohsin Ali has been in the spotlight ever since he won gold in the 1,000m kayaking event at the inaugural Khelo India Water Sports Festival (KIWSF) held recently at Dal Lake.
On Sunday, the Srinagar teen earned the title of a local hero after Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted his achievement during the 125th edition of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat.
The KIWSF, held from August 21-23 at the iconic Dal Lake, showcased six sporting disciplines—rowing, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, shikara racing, and dragon boat racing—with participation from 28 states and Union territories.
