India concludes its most successful Asian Shooting Championships campaign, securing 99 medals, including 50 golds

Shymkent: India’s Ankur Mittal delivered a world-record performance on the final day of the Asian Shooting Championships 2025 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, clinching gold in the men’s double trap event and capping India’s most successful campaign at the tournament.

India finished with a record 99 medals, including 50 gold, surpassing their previous tally by 35 from the 15th Asian Championships in Changwon, South Korea. Kazakhstan secured second place, while China finished third in the overall medal standings.

Mittal hit 107 targets across four rounds, setting a new world record and comfortably outpacing Kazakhstan’s Artyom Chikulayev (98) and Kuwait’s Ahmad Alaffasi (96), who took silver and bronze. He also teamed up with Bhanu Pratap Singh and Harshvardhan Kaviya to win bronze in the men’s double trap team event.

In the 25m centre fire pistol, Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu captured individual gold with a score of 583, edging out South Korea’s Lee Jaekyoon (580) and Iran’s Javad Foroughi (579). Sandhu, together with Gurpreet Singh and Ankur Goel, also claimed team gold with a combined 1,733 points.

In the women’s events, Manini Kaushik secured bronze in the 50m rifle prone with 617.8 points, contributing to India’s team silver alongside Surabhi Bhardwaj and Vidarsa Vinod. Later, India dominated the women’s double trap, sweeping the podium with Anushka Singh Bhati (gold), Rajkuwar Pranil Ingle (silver), and Yeshaya Hafiz Contractor (bronze).

Other notable performances included:

10m air pistol: Men’s team silver, mixed bronze, women’s individual and team bronze.

25m pistol: Women’s team bronze.

25m rapid fire pistol: Men’s individual and team silver.

50m rifle 3 positions: Women’s individual and team gold, men’s individual gold.

Trap & Skeet: Multiple golds and bronzes in individual, team, and mixed events.

Asian Junior Shooting Championships 2025: India also excelled in the junior category with multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals across 10m air pistol, 10m air rifle, skeet, 25m pistol, 50m rifle, and double trap, highlighting the depth of talent in the country’s shooting program.

India’s stellar performances in both senior and junior categories underscore a new high in the nation’s shooting history, reflecting consistency, skill, and dominance across events.
