Five Drug Peddlers Arrested in Baramulla and Kulgam Districts

Srinagar: Five drug peddlers were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla and Kulgam districts, with contraband recovered from their possession, police said on Monday.

In north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a police team set up a checkpoint at Drung Crossing and intercepted three suspicious individuals. They were identified as Altaf Ahmad Hajam, Suhail Ahmad Lone, and Mudasir Ahmad Lone, all residents of Waniloo Hajibal. During a search, police recovered 20 grams of a brown sugar-like substance from them, a police spokesperson said.

In south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, based on specific intelligence, a police team stopped two individuals at a checkpoint in the Sesman Damjan area. Authorities recovered over 3 kg of poppy straw-like contraband from their possession. The two were identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar of Sesman Bonigam and Anayat Bashir of Nassu Badragund.

All five individuals have been booked under relevant sections of law, and investigations are ongoing, the spokesperson added.
