SRINAGAR: Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, along with Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, today visited the Irrigation and Flood Control Room at Ram Munshi Bagh to review the prevailing flood situation and assess preparedness measures.
During the visit, they examined water levels, the monitoring system in place, and steps being taken to safeguard vulnerable areas.



Chairing a brief meeting at the control room, Sakeena Itoo directed officials to ensure real-time dissemination of information and prompt action during any emergency. She stressed issuing timely alerts and advisories to enable safe and orderly evacuation from low-lying, flood-prone areas.
The Minister also instructed officials to keep men and machinery on high alert along Jhelum embankments to prevent any breach. Both the Minister and Advisor urged line departments to work in close coordination and maintain round-the-clock vigilance. They also emphasized the need for continuous public awareness to keep citizens informed and prepared.
Reassuring the public of the Government’s full commitment to their safety and well-being, they appealed for calm, cooperation with authorities, and adherence to advisories.
On the occasion, senior officers from the Flood & Irrigation Department, SDRF, and district administration briefed them on current water levels and measures being taken to secure flood-prone areas.
