New Delhi: On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to citizens on the eve of Onam and Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
In her message, she highlighted that Onam, celebrated with the joy of the new harvest, reflects Kerala’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. “This festival reminds us of the importance of unity, cooperation, and harmony beyond cultural and religious boundaries,” she said, noting that it is also a time to express gratitude to farmers.
“On this occasion, let us pledge to honor our cultural diversity and strengthen national unity,” the President added, extending her greetings to all citizens, particularly “the brothers and sisters of Kerala living in India and abroad,” according to an official statement.
Speaking on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, President Murmu emphasized that the occasion encourages people to embrace the teachings of the Prophet and foster peace and harmony in society. “Prophet Muhammad conveyed a message of unity and service to humanity,” she said. “On this auspicious occasion, let us draw inspiration from his teachings and strive in the spirit of love and brotherhood.”
