Kupwara: At least 15 government employees were found absent during a surprise inspection of several offices in Karnah subdivision.

The inspection was conducted by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Zaffar Ahmed Lone, after receiving multiple public complaints about absenteeism.

Officials said the absent employees belonged to different departments, including Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Food and Supplies, ICDS, Social Welfare, and Sheep and Animal Husbandry, among others.

“During the surprise inspection, 15 employees were found absent from duty. Disciplinary action will be taken against them as per rules,” SDM Lone said.

He cautioned that strict measures would follow in case of repeated absenteeism and directed Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to ensure no staff member remains absent without authorization.

“This kind of negligence will not be tolerated. Employees must remain punctual and committed to their duties,” he added.
