Peshawar: Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan along a 1,300-km stretch, recorded 605 terror-related incidents in the first eight months of 2025, an official police report has revealed.

According to the report, 138 civilians were killed and 352 injured, while 79 police personnel lost their lives and 130 were wounded in these attacks up to August 25.

In August alone, the province witnessed 129 terror strikes, leaving 17 civilians and 13 policemen dead and injuring 51 civilians and 46 police personnel. During the same period, authorities named 351 suspects, of whom 32 were killed and five arrested. Bannu reported the highest number of attacks (42), followed by North Waziristan (15), South Waziristan (14) and Dir (11).

The surge comes days after six Pakistan Army and paramilitary Federal Constabulary personnel were killed in a militant assault on the FC Headquarters in the province.

Separately, the Islamabad-based Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) reported that the country logged 78 terrorist attacks in June alone, which claimed 100 lives and left 189 people injured. Victims included 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six militants, and two members of local peace committees.

Officials said security forces have since stepped up counter-terror operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including targeted actions in Bajaur, as militant violence intensifies.
