Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday accused the National Conference (NC) of making a “concerning surrender” to the BJP’s narratives and policies.

Mufti made the remarks while chairing a meeting with senior PDP leaders from Srinagar to discuss organisational and political strategies. The discussions focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots presence, restructuring its organisation, mobilising cadres, and setting policy priorities to enhance its relevance across Jammu and Kashmir, a party spokesperson said.

Reiterating the PDP’s commitment to its founding principles, Mufti stressed the need to take a firm ideological stand against the BJP. She criticised the NC for “compromising with divisive narratives” and vowed that the PDP would continue to safeguard the rights and aspirations of the people through principled opposition and constructive engagement.

“The PDP will not allow the region’s identity and dignity to be compromised,” Mufti said.

The meeting ended with a pledge to intensify public outreach, strengthen party unity, and respond effectively to the political and social challenges in the Union Territory, the spokesperson added.
