JAMMU: Union Minister and MoS in the PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, on Saturday said substantial progress has been made in restoring road connectivity in Kishtwar and Udhampur districts following heavy damage caused by landslides and rains.
Dr. Singh posted on X that NH-244 from Thathri to Kishtwar has been reopened by bypassing the affected slide area. He added that the Kishtwar–Chatroo–Sinthan Top road is expected to open today after blasting work was carried out yesterday to clear large rocks.
In Udhampur district, more than 50 percent of the 400 damaged roads have already been restored. “Restoration of the National Highway is proceeding on a war footing despite adverse weather, and it is expected to reopen within a day or two, subject to favorable conditions,” he said.
Dr. Singh also noted that efforts are ongoing to restore connectivity to peripheral areas such as Gordi, Latti, Dudu, and Basantgarh. While water supply in parts of Ramnagar, Moungri, Latti, and Basantgarh remains affected, alternative supply is being provided through tankers.
