India Triumphs at 17th World Wushu Championship in Brazil

India showcased a strong performance at the 17th World Wushu Championship in Brazil, with its athletes making notable strides on the global stage. Three Indian women advanced to the finals, while two men progressed to the knockout rounds, reflecting the country’s rising stature in the sport.

In the women’s events, Aparna secured a place in the finals of the 52 kg category after defeating Indonesia’s Tharisa Dea Florientina and will face Vietnam’s Ngo Thi Bhuong Nga for the title. Kareena Kaushik impressed in the 60 kg semifinals, overcoming Brazil’s Nathalia Briquesi Silva, and is set to challenge China’s Xiaowei Wu for the championship.

On the men’s side, Sagar Dahiya will contest the 56 kg semifinals against the Philippines’ Carlos Baylon Jr, while Vikrant Baliyan looks to move past his quarterfinal clash with China’s Gensheng Jin.
