Shaheed Singhs Welfare Delegation Meets LG Sinha, Seeks Justice and Welfare for Chittisinghpora Massacre Families

Srinagar: A delegation of 35 members from the Shaheed Singhs Welfare Organization, Chittisinghpora, led by Chairman S. Jagjeet Singh, met Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today.

The delegation called for a fresh investigation into the massacre of 35 Sikhs in Chittisinghpora, Anantnag, carried out by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists on 20th March 2000. They also highlighted various welfare concerns for the next of kin of the martyred civilians, including compassionate appointments under SRO-43, parity of benefits with non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits, reservation in admissions to government universities and colleges, and financial support for the construction of a memorial in Chittisinghpora.

Reaffirming his commitment to justice for families affected by terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor assured that a thorough inquiry would be conducted. He emphasized that the grievances of the martyred civilians’ families would be addressed sensitively and on a priority basis. Eligible family members will be provided compassionate appointments and financial assistance for self-employment.
