IMCT Visits Kulgam, Reviews Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Measures

KULGAM: The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), deputed by the Union Government, visited Kulgam today to review relief, rehabilitation, and restoration efforts following the recent floods.

The team included Col. K.P. Singh, Joint Secretary & Advisor (Ops & Comm), NDMA; Navin Kumar Chauraisa, Regional Officer, MoRTH Jammu; Arti Singh, Deputy Director, Ministry of Power; Dr. Vikram Singh, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare; Shachi Jain, Director, Ministry of Jal Shakti; Kandarp V. Patel, Deputy Secretary, FCD; and Rakesh Kumar, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development.

During the meeting, the team assessed the damages caused by recent floods, cloudbursts, and landslides in the district. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan, senior district officials, and engineers from key departments including PWD (R&B), Jal Shakti, Irrigation & Flood Control, KPDCL, PMGSY, as well as Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, FSC, and Revenue departments.

The Deputy Commissioner presented an overview of the recent flood situation. The IMCT stated that their observations, recommendations, and damage reports will be forwarded to the Union Government to ensure both immediate relief and long-term resilience planning for Kulgam.

Following the meeting, the IMCT visited flood-affected areas including Khudwani and Qaimoo to conduct on-ground assessments. The team interacted with local residents to hear their concerns and suggestions, assuring them that these inputs will be shared with the Government of India for effective relief measures and future planning.
