JAMMU: The 270-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained shut to vehicular traffic for the ninth straight day on Tuesday, as authorities worked urgently to restore a severely damaged 250-metre stretch in Udhampur district.

Officials said the Doda-Kishtwar road and the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, key links between the Union Territory of J&K and Ladakh, are also closed due to landslides.

Since August 26, the highway has faced multiple blockages caused by torrential rains, flash floods, and landslides. It was briefly reopened for a few hours on August 30, but in total, it has now been closed for 15 days.
