NEW DELHI: Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday emphasized the crucial role of land forces on the battlefield, stating that control over land will continue to be the key to victory in India’s strategic context.
Speaking at an event here, he highlighted the significance of land forces in warfare and referenced last month’s summit in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Ukraine conflict.
“When you look at the Alaska conference, the discussion centered on how much territory would change hands,” Dwivedi noted.
He added, “For India, facing two-and-a-half-front threats, land will remain the currency of victory.”
His remarks came just two weeks after Air Chief Marshal A P Singh underscored the “primacy” of air power during Operation Sindoor.
Gen Dwivedi also spoke in detail about the evolving nature of warfare, explaining how the Indian Army is implementing transformative changes, including the induction of new and emerging technologies.
