New Delhi: In a coordinated operation, Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and Ranchi Police have arrested two suspected ISIS operatives, officials said on Wednesday.

The main accused, Ashar Danish, a native of Bokaro, was apprehended in Ranchi. He was wanted in a case filed by the Delhi Police Special Cell concerning an ISIS-linked module.

Another suspect, identified as Aftab, was arrested in Delhi during simultaneous operations conducted by the teams.

Preliminary investigations indicate that both individuals were in contact with members of an ISIS-inspired network and involved in activities aimed at advancing the terror group’s agenda in India, sources familiar with the operation said. Danish had been under surveillance by security agencies for several months.
