Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has officially begun shooting for his highly anticipated film Battle of Galwan.
Sharing a striking image on Instagram, Salman is seen in a military uniform, sporting a rugged moustache and a commanding gaze that exudes fierce patriotism.
In Apoorva Lakhia’s directorial, Salman will portray an Indian Army officer in Battle of Galwan, which dramatizes the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes between India and China. During the clash on June 16, 2020, twenty Indian soldiers lost their lives, while the Chinese side also suffered significant casualties.
The skirmish led to heightened tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, with both nations deploying military formations and conducting strategic border surveys to prevent further confrontations. Since then, India and China have gradually disengaged from certain border areas, establishing buffer zones in multiple sectors.
Actress Chitrangda Singh has been cast opposite Salman. Director Apoorva Lakhia shared the casting news in July, saying, “I’ve always wanted to work with Chitrangda since I admired her performances in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Bob Biswas. She brings a rare mix of strength and sensitivity to the screen, perfectly complementing Salman Sir’s brooding yet quiet strength.”
Salman first teased the project on social media in early July, releasing a powerful motion poster. The video shows him with bloodstains on his face and an unwavering look of patriotism, giving audiences a glimpse of the film’s intense and heroic theme.
