Kathmandu: At least 25 people, including three policemen, have been killed in violent anti-government protests led by the ‘Gen Z’ group in Nepal over the past two days, police and officials said on Wednesday.

According to officials, 19 demonstrators, mostly youths, were shot dead by security forces during protests outside the Parliament building on Monday.

On Tuesday, three policemen were lynched by a mob in the Koteshwor area of Kathmandu, while three protesters were killed in clashes with police near Kalimati Police Station.

The Home Ministry said 633 people have been injured during the unrest.

Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, were among those hurt when protesters attacked their residence in Budhanilkantha. Both are undergoing treatment in hospital and are said to be recovering.

In response, the Nepal Army on Wednesday enforced nationwide restrictive orders and imposed a curfew to prevent further violence. The move came a day after Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli resigned amid mounting anti-government demonstrations.
