New Delhi: Over 200 passengers on a Singapore-bound Air India flight faced a gruelling wait at Delhi airport after being deboarded due to a cabin temperature issue, before finally departing nearly six hours behind schedule.

Flight AI2380, scheduled to take off at 11 pm on Wednesday with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, remained on the ground for about two hours as passengers sat inside without proper air conditioning or electrical supply, according to a PTI journalist onboard.

The airline later deplaned all passengers and shifted them back to the terminal. In a statement on Thursday, Air India said the delay was caused by a “cabin cooling issue on ground prior to departure.”

“Passengers were regularly kept informed of the delay and our ground teams in Delhi provided refreshments and meals. The flight eventually departed at 5:36 am after a change of aircraft,” the airline said, while expressing regret over the inconvenience caused.

Videos shared on social media showed passengers fanning themselves with newspapers and magazines inside the aircraft before being asked to deboard.
