Srinagar: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday attached properties of two proclaimed offenders in Baramulla district under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), police said.

The attached assets belong to Mohammad Maqbool Sheikh and Mohammad Rafiq Tantray, both residents of Tantraypora Palhallan and currently based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Acting on orders of the designated UAPA court, police carried out attachment proceedings against their immovable properties in a case registered under the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance (EIMCO), Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), and UAPA.

Officials said three kanals and 15 marlas of land owned by Sheikh and four kanals and 17 marlas belonging to Tantray were attached under Section 88 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) with assistance from the revenue department. The land was duly identified, demarcated, and legal formalities including proclamation and public notification were completed.

In a separate action, police also attached the property of an alleged drug peddler in Budgam’s Humhama area. The property, a double-storey residential house owned by Sahil Yousuf Bhat, is valued at around ₹50 lakh, officials said.
