SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the upcoming ‘Sewa Parv’, scheduled across the Union Territory from 17th September to 2nd October 2025.

The meeting was attended by Shri Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Shri Shantmanu, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department; Shri Shailendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Department; Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor; along with Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and senior officials from various departments.

The Lieutenant Governor conducted a comprehensive review of planned activities by departments and district administrations aimed at promoting public service, community participation, and inclusive governance. He stressed that the celebration should reflect a commitment to Viksit Bharat and Viksit Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing outcomes over symbolic gestures. Senior officials were urged to act as role models and ensure all departmental activities align with development priorities.

Shri Sinha directed departments to identify gaps in flagship scheme coverage and make dedicated efforts to achieve full reach. He also called for instituting a daily monitoring and review mechanism at district, division, and department levels.

Highlighting key focus areas, the Lieutenant Governor instructed that drug de-addiction drives, disaster management awareness campaigns, and special grievance redressal camps be incorporated into Sewa Parv activities. Departments were asked to set realistic targets and track progress through a digital portal.

He underscored the importance of educating students on civic responsibilities and national and social issues via platforms like Youth Parliament. Relief efforts for flood-affected areas, promotion of personal hygiene, curbing single-use plastics, and welfare initiatives for the elderly, poor, and specially-abled were also highlighted as integral components of the celebrations.

Further, Shri Sinha recommended organizing debate and essay competitions on Mahatma Gandhi, reiterating that the guiding principles of Sewa Parv are public service, community participation, and inclusive governance to ensure meaningful community impact. The primary objective is to ensure that every voice is heard and every section of society benefits from developmental initiatives.

The observance will focus on key themes including Cleanliness Drives & Environmental Action, Education Initiatives, Engagement with Elderly & Vulnerable Groups, Health & Nutrition Programs, Awareness & Capacity-Building Workshops, Cultural Activities, and Public Outreach Campaigns.

A dedicated online portal will facilitate coordination, real-time monitoring, and transparent reporting throughout the Sewa Parv.

The Lieutenant Governor was also briefed on the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’, to be held during the same period, emphasizing women’s health and empowerment as central to family and community development.
