KATHMANDU: Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki is expected to lead a caretaker government in Nepal tasked with holding fresh elections, sources said.
Discussions among key stakeholders — including representatives of the Gen Z group behind the anti-government protests, the Army chief, and President Ramchandra Paudel — stretched until midnight Thursday but ended without a consensus.
Despite the deadlock, the youth-led Gen Z group put forward Karki’s name for the post of caretaker prime minister, according to multiple sources.
