Srinagar: The residential property of a suspected drug peddler was attached under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday, police said.
“In a significant step to curb the drug menace and dismantle the networks supporting narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police have attached a residential property valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh under the NDPS Act,” a police spokesperson stated.
The attached property includes a house built on over five marlas of land owned by Waseem Ahmad Bafanda, a resident of Lachmanpora, Dandrkha area in Batamaloo locality of the city.
The action is linked to a case registered under the NDPS Act in which Bafanda has been identified as the accused. The spokesperson described him as a notorious drug peddler with a history of supplying drugs, particularly to local youth.
Investigations revealed that the property was purchased using proceeds from illicit drug trafficking, the police added.
