Mumbai: Malayalam actor-director Soubin Shahir has grabbed attention once again, this time with his playful take on the ‘Coolie’ song Monica, even catching the eye of Bollywood star Ranveer Singh.

Sharing a lively Instagram video, Shahir danced along with his son Orhan and his niece, showcasing their synchronized moves to the peppy track. Captioning the post, he wrote: “Dancing to the rhythm of love!!! #zynah #orhan #soubinshahir #monica #coolie #uncle #niece.”

The trio’s infectious energy and playful smiles quickly won over fans, and at one point, Shahir appeared visibly amused by their spirited performance.

Fans weren’t the only ones reacting—Ranveer Singh left a laughing emoji and a hand clap emoji in the comments, while Malayalam actress Manju Warrier also joined in to show her appreciation.

The song Monica, part of Rajinikanth’s Coolie, released in July, is composed by Anirudh Ravichander with vocals by Sublahshini and Anirudh, and rap by Asal Kolaar. Vishnu Edavan penned the lyrics.

Though Pooja Hegde’s dance in the lyrical video, choreographed by Sandy, drew widespread praise, it’s Soubin Shahir’s brief yet impressive dance moment that has captured cinema lovers’ attention. Notably, Shahir also appeared in the original song video, leaving fans impressed with his performance.

Known for acting in hits like Premam and Manjummel Boys, Shahir continues to surprise audiences—not just with his acting but now with his dance skills in Monica.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie unfolds against the gritty backdrop of the Visakhapatnam docks, following Deva, a former coolie turned rebel, as he uncovers a deadly smuggling syndicate while investigating his best friend’s mysterious death. The film features key performances by Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan and faced a box-office clash with War 2 on August 14.
