JAMMU: Police on Saturday detained an alleged criminal under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
The accused, identified as Arjun Kumar alias “Billu,” a resident of Kalyana village in Arnia, is described as a hardcore offender with a record of violent and heinous crimes, a police spokesperson said.
Despite several arrests and legal proceedings, he continued to show blatant disregard for the law and remained involved in criminal activities, posing a serious threat to public peace and security, the spokesperson added.
“Since routine legal measures failed to curb his unlawful conduct, preventive detention under the PSA was found necessary to safeguard public order and prevent further criminal acts,” the spokesperson stated.
Multiple FIRs have been registered against him in connection with his repeated criminal activities, officials confirmed.
