New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) headquarters at Muridke, Markaz Taiba, was reduced to rubble in precision Indian Air Force strikes during Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. The offensive flattened cadre housing, arms depots, and the “Umm-ul-Qura” training blocks—crippling LeT’s central command hub.

Fresh intelligence inputs now indicate that Pakistan is directly bankrolling the outfit’s reconstruction. Islamabad has already funneled PKR 4 crore to LeT, though the rebuild is projected to cost more than PKR 15 crore. Senior commanders Maulana Abu Zar and Yunus Shah Bukhari are supervising the project, with a February 5, 2026, deadline—timed to coincide with LeT’s annual Kashmir Solidarity Day convention.

According to a dossier prepared by Indian agencies, LeT cadres are running fundraising drives under the pretext of “flood relief”, repeating a familiar pattern of diverting humanitarian aid to terror infrastructure. In 2005, nearly 80% of earthquake relief funds collected by its front, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, were siphoned off to build militant camps.

Despite Pakistan’s repeated global claims of fighting terrorism, the dossier underscores that its Army and ISI remain complicit, ensuring LeT’s survival and revival. Analysts warn the reconstruction underscores Islamabad’s double standards on counter-terrorism and raises the risk of fresh cross-border attacks from Pakistani soil.

Markaz Taiba is not just a residence for LeT’s top commanders but also the epicenter of indoctrination and training, offering courses on intelligence, arms handling, and radicalization. Established in 2000 in Nangal Sahdan, Muridke (Sheikhupura, Punjab), the facility has served as LeT’s premier training complex, hosting arms drills, physical training, and dawa’h programs for recruits from Pakistan and abroad.

The centre enrolls nearly 1,000 students annually, reinforcing its role as a terror factory. Notably, Osama bin Laden contributed Rs 10 million for the construction of a mosque and guesthouse within the complex.

At the ISI’s direction, perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, including Ajmal Kasab, received Daura-e-Ribbat (intelligence training) at this site. Conspirators David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana also visited Muridke with Abdul Rehman Sayed alias Pasha, Haroon, and Khurram on instructions from LeT operations chief Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.
