New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three individuals in connection with the grenade attack at a temple in Amritsar, officials said on Sunday.
The NIA has named Vishal Gill, Bhagwant Singh, and Diwan Singh, charging them for their involvement in the conspiracy and execution of the attack on the Thakurdwara Sanatan Temple in Chheharta, Amritsar. The chargesheet was submitted to a special court in Mohali on Friday.
Gill was one of the two assailants on a motorcycle who threw the grenade in the early hours of March 15. The other attacker, Gursidak Singh, was killed in a police encounter two days later.
According to the chargesheet, Bhatti provided critical support to the attackers, including shelter, safe storage of grenades, motorcycles for reconnaissance, and logistical assistance before and after the attack. Sunny has been charged for aiding the co-accused and destroying evidence, the NIA said in a statement.
Another key accused, Sharanjeet Kumar, was arrested by the NIA from Gaya Ji in Bihar on September 5. Investigations against him and the absconding Badalpreet Singh are ongoing.
The probe has also uncovered the transfer of terror funds from foreign handlers to local operatives through UPI and MTSS (Money Transfer Service Scheme) channels, which is under further investigation. Efforts continue to identify other absconders and trace the international links of the terror module involved in the attack, the agency added.
