JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services, and Sports, Satish Sharma, today conducted an extensive tour of the Samwan and Kharah Balli blocks, along with Battal, Dhakhar, and Jogwan Panchayats in Jammu district, to assess the situation following the recent floods and review the availability of essential commodities.
During the visit, the Minister interacted with local residents, assuring them of the Government’s full support during these challenging times. He directed officials from the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department and other concerned authorities to ensure uninterrupted availability of ration, LPG, kerosene, and other daily necessities in the affected areas.
Emphasizing the challenges posed by heavy rainfall and flood-related disruptions in connectivity, Satish Sharma instructed the administration to adopt a proactive approach, particularly in vulnerable and low-lying areas where access to essential supplies may be limited during emergencies.


The Minister also reviewed the status of relief distribution and stressed that aid must reach the worst-affected families promptly. He highlighted the importance of full preparedness of the government machinery and close coordination between the civil administration, field officers, and local representatives to ensure an effective response.
Addressing the public, Satish Sharma said, “The recent floods have caused immense hardships, but the Government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the affected people. Ensuring that no household faces shortages of essential items is our top priority. All departments must work together to provide both immediate relief and long-term solutions.”
He further assured that steps would be taken to strengthen infrastructure and improve storage facilities in flood-prone and remote areas to minimize disruptions in the future.
The Minister was accompanied by senior district administration officials, who briefed him on the measures already implemented and ongoing restoration efforts.
