Mumbai: Actor Shalini Pandey is set to join Dhanush in his highly anticipated fourth directorial venture, Idli Kadai.
The makers officially announced her addition on Saturday with a special poster introducing her character, Meera. Shalini, who was last seen in Maharaj and Netflix’s Dabba Cartel, will share screen space with Dhanush, Nithya Menen, and Arun Vijay.
Welcoming her on Instagram, the team wrote: “Introducing the pretty @shalzp as MEERA #IdliKadai – in theatres from October 1st.”
On Ganesh Chaturthi, the film’s second track, Enjaami Thandhaane, was unveiled. Composed by GV Prakash Kumar, the upbeat rural folk number has Dhanush lending his voice, with rap by Arivu and additional vocals by Sublahshini. GV Prakash, fresh off his National Award win for Vaathi, has scored the film’s music.
Directed by Dhanush, Idli Kadai stars him alongside Nithya Menen, marking their reunion after the 2022 hit Thiruchitrambalam. The film, jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Aakash Baskaran’s Dawn Pictures, is slated for release on October 1.
Shalini Pandey, who rose to fame with her performance in Maharaj opposite Junaid Khan, was widely praised for her portrayal in the period drama based on the landmark 1862 Maharaj Libel Case.
